Abstract

Economic inequality is a major issue of regional development in Indonesia today. This is because each region has different potential, conditions, and characteristics from each other, resulting in disparities between regions. This study aims to analyze the convergence of economic growth between districts in Central Papua Province for the period 2017-2022 which is analyzed using panel data regression with the Common Effect Model approach for absolute convergence and Fixed Effect Model for conditional beta convergence. The estimation results show (1) There is no sigma convergence between districts in Central Papua Province based on the analysis of the fluctuating variation coefficient with an increasing trend, (2) There is absolute beta convergence with a convergence rate of 1.73 percent per year and a half-life of almost 40 years, (3) There is no conditional beta convergence but rather divergence with an increase in economic disparities between districts by 12.42 percent per year.
